David Drebin
David Drebin’s photography blends voyeuristic and psychological perspectives in a way all his own. He gives viewers a dramatic window into feelings and moments that most of us have surely encountered at some point in our lives. After earning his degree from Parsons School of Design in New York City in 1996, Drebin quickly built a reputation as an internationally acclaimed photographer, shooting movie stars, sports figures and a range of entertainers, and he went on to be commissioned for numerous high-profile advertising campaigns worldwide.
Drebin’s images are epic, dramatic and, above all, cinematic, and they have been collected across the globe. In a distinctive and lavish style, he positions femme fatales against the vast backdrops of cities like Hong Kong, New York and Paris. The sweeping city panoramas, which in their scale pay homage to cinema, act as cinematic stages. With their striking skyscrapers, they offer the viewer an almost limitless canvas for the imagination. The signature tension and depth in his work emerge from the free mixing of contrasting themes such as humor and sex, melancholy and sex, and melancholy and humor.
