Frédéric Avella

Frédéric Avella comes from four generations of master stonemasons, and it was in that lineage that he learned to cut, shape, and polish stone and marble. He began drawing classes as a young child, and by age 21 he had been selected to restore sculptures and landmarks across the French Riviera. Today Avella moves fluidly between many artistic techniques and materials, drawing on cartoons, comics, and animals to twist the way familiar imagery is usually portrayed in popular culture.
