Layer Cake

Known as Layer Cake, Sean Sullivan is a New York-born artist whose work spans music production, apparel design and his trademark stencil art. His clothing draws on a passion for fine art and graffiti, and that same sensibility shapes how he approaches canvas painting. Many of his mixed-media pieces feature recognizable pop-culture figures taken from television or vintage magazines, among them Speed Racer, Pink Panther and Popeye. Built up from layers of old comic book pages, his richly textured compositions form eye-catching collages that he finishes with his signature stencil work.
